REMOVES MOISTURE CAUSED BY LEAKS IN WALLS AND CEILINGS

What is moisture filtration?

Liquid water can be filtered into the house for different reasons:

  • Leaky pipes that pour water to the walls continuously. They can be detected, closing all the taps in the house, and checking that the water meter indicator does not move. If the meter indicator keeps moving, you have to close the water accesses to the different bathrooms, kitchen, washing machines, until you determine the source of the problem. One solution is to use a thermal camera, to trace the water pipes, and identify the cold points that often coincide with leaking spots.
  • Leaky drains or downspouts, which appear when it rains, or when using the laundry, kitchen, or bathrooms.
  • Cracks in the walls, which filter the water inside when it rains, especially when they are accompanied by wind.
  • Leaks due to poor sealing of the union of two walls especially if they are of different materials as often occurs in basements or garages.
  • Cracks in the waterproofing of terraces and roofs.
  • Badly sealed a peripheral wall with the neighbour's wall, and when it rains the water precipitates between the two adjoining walls.
  • Poorly sealed basin, shower tray, bathtub or sink with an adjoining wall, causing water to leak whenever used.
  • Underground currents that rush against the wall of a house, common in houses located in a valley. The solution in this case is to redirect the groundwater away from the house.

The common characteristic in all these cases is that the humidity begins to be noticed at one point and spreads over time.

Moisture from leaks is the main cause of building deterioration, and can lead to collapse.

In the case of basements and garages, if water does not flow inside but only cause moisture on the walls, the problem can be solved with the Humitat-Stop HS-221

Consequences of moisture by water filtration

  • Moisture leakage has serious consequences, both for your health and for your economy.
  • Respiratory diseases, asthma, rheumatism, and allergies.
  • Deterioration of walls, walls, floors and ceilings.
  • Cracks and chippings in the floor, walls, and ceilings, increasing maintenance costs.
  • A significant increase in heating costs, as it also heats the water on the walls.
  • Devaluation of the value of your home.
  • Appearance of mold on walls, furniture, clothing, accessories and footwear.
  • Humidity helps the proliferation of insects such as cockroaches or termites.

How to remove moisture caused by filtration?

Outside wall with moisture

Moisture can be originated from various causes, as analysed in a previous section. Depending on the source and after a professional diagnosis, the appropriate solution should be applied.

In this case the humidity by filtrations is maximum initially at one point and is spreading around.

Analyzing the typical cases of moisture by filtration we group the corresponding solution:

  • In the case of leaks or cracks in water pipes, they should be sealed with specific products if the pipes are accessible, but the assistance of a professional with thermal camera is necessary in the case of ducts embedded in walls, floors or ceilings.
  • If there are cracks in the walls, they must be repaired and waterproofed by a professional.
  • If there are cracks in the waterproofing of roofs or terraces, the expertise of a professional is essential.
  • If the union of two walls is not well sealed, the junction at the angles of the walls between itself and the ceiling must be redone.
  • As already indicated if underground streams of water rush against the walls of your home, you need to channel them to the outside of the building.
