CAUSES, WHY DO MOISTURE STAINS APPEAR ON THE WALL AND FLOORS?

Moisture stains on the walls

The main cause of the appearance of stains on walls and floors is moisture, when it impregnates the materials of walls and floors surfaces.

In addition to generating stains, they can promote the growth of black mold, which is very harmful for people’s health when breathing the spores they emit.

If the walls are covered by paper or textiles the moisture gets them rot, causing very prominent stains, and encouraging the growth of mold.

The salts that dissolve the water in its ascent through the walls or between the floor tiles, leave a whitish trail, which must be removed urgently, because it prevents good adhesion of the restoration materials put on top. That dust, which appears between the tiles is aggressive and corrodes the tiles, needing a polish for restoration.

In the case of wooden floors the moisture blackens them, and they end rotting, and the affected parts will need to be replaced.

Undoubtedly the way to avoid moisture stains, is to remove moisture, otherwise, these stains will reappear irretrievably.

  • If the stains are mold, you must destroy it by spraying with an anti-rust mixture, such as a mixture of 4 parts water and one part of bleach.
  • If the stains are from the salts left by the water when drying, you can remove that white dust by scratching, or remove them with anti-salts products, but it is very important to do so before rehabilitation works.
  • If there is rising damp in the soil, white stains appear between the tiles, which can be removed, polishing the tiles after drying with our HS-221 system.
